The Great BIG Gigantic Food Giveaway

On December 17th, James Cady, Boy Scout Troop 516, and Church on the Rock will be giving away over 5,000 pounds of food to those in most need.  James is working on his Eagle Scout Badge for the local troop.  James’ mother is the Pantry Director for Church on the Rock. “I’m doing it because there are people that don’t have anything to eat, and that shouldn’t happen,” James commented.

“James is one of those who sees a need and does everything he can  to help,” said John Harry, one of the pastors at the church.  “To take on a project this large is amazing and tough for anyone, much less a student.  In addition to giving the food away, James has raised the money to fund this project $20 at a time.”

Part of the project is collecting names and addresses of the individuals in need.  James has reached out to some of the local food pantries to get contact information of those needing help.  “This project will reach around 120 families,” said James.

This food distribution is made possible through Feed the Gulf Coast, a local food bank serving our community.
